FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
General
How is Neposmart different to other Security/IP Cameras that are out on the market?

Neposmart’s patented technology means that our IP Camera is an all-in-one device with an integrated smart controller that allows you to view, record, alert, and control your door, gate, siren, floodlight, and Perimeter Beam anytime, anywhere from your smart phone, tablet, or iPad without the need for any additional hubs or add-ons.

At Neposmart, your privacy is very important to us. We designed our product in such a way that we do not store and collect any of your information, as it is stored directly on your device. We do not require you to create an external login and an account with us, which means that the functionality of your device does not depend on our servers and that you do not have to pay any monthly fees or a subscription to use your own device or view your own feeds. You truly own and control your Neposmart device, no-one else.

Can Neposmart employees access my video feed or account information?

No. We designed Neposmart in such a way that we don’t keep any of your account information, videos, or pictures on our company servers. Your account information is stored only inside the devices you own, not on our servers. No matter who tries to get that information, whether it be a Neposmart employee, a person with mal intent, or a Government entity, we have no access to it.

Do I have to pay a monthly subscription to use Neposmart?

No, Neposmart Cameras do not require a monthly subscription. Typically subscriptions are required to access an account or view stored data on an external server. Neposmart operates differently. Your account is stored within the Neposmart app, and all data is stored on your personal Amazon Drive, Dropbox, USB, or other location. This creates complete security and privacy for you and makes our products a one time cost. Once you purchase the Neposmart Camera, you own it and control it.

Installation

Troubleshooting
My Neposmart Camera is not turning on.
  • Make sure the AC adapter is connected securely to the DC port on the back of your Neposmart Camera.
  • Make sure the AC adapter is connected securely to a powered outlet and no fuses or circuit breakers are tripped.
My Neposmart Camera cannot find my wireless network.
  • Make sure the Wifi antenna is securely connected to the back of Neposmart.
  • Your network may be hidden. Use the web interface to connect your Neposmart to your wireless network.
  • Your wireless network may be out of range. Move Neposmart closer to a router or use a Wifi extender to extend the range of your wireless network.
My Neposmart Camera does not appear when I search for it on my Android or iOS Device.
  • Your Neposmart Camera may not be connected to your network. Check the antenna or Ethernet cable to ensure that it is firmly connected.
  • Check to make sure WiFi is enabled on your Android or iOS device and is actually connected to the same WiFi network as your Neposmart Camera.
  • Check to make sure you are running the correct Neposmart search program downloaded from the Neposmart website for PC or Mac and that your PC or Mac is connected to the same network as your Neposmart Camera.
I can’t find the Neposmart app on my Android or iOS device.

Go to the App Store on your iOS device or Google Play store on your Android device and search for “Neposmart.” If the app is already installed, tap “Open” in the App Store or Google Play Store to open the app.

I can’t see any videos in the Neposmart app on my iOS or Android device.
  • If you have just moved outside of your house, your device may be in the process of disconnecting you from your wireless network and connecting you to cellular data. The video may not appear momentarily as this switch occurs.
  • Check to make sure that your smart phone has a good Internet connection or cellular signal. You may not have a stable Internet or network connection on your device. This may cause the video to stop streaming momentarily.
  • If accessing through free WiFi, that network may be blocking your video access. Turn off your free WiFi  and use your cellular connection.
Why is my Neposmart Camera moving by itself?

Whenever your Neposmart camera restarts, it will pan back and forth, up and down. The reason is that it has lost WiFi connection and is trying to find it again. It will intermittently pan every five minutes until it does. For some reason, if you have no internet connection, we advise that you unplug your camera until your internet connection comes back to prevent the camera motor from continually moving.

I can’t see any videos in my web browser on Mac OS X.
  • You may need to go to Terminal and type:
    qtdefaults write TransportSettings HTTP 80
  • You may also need to change the audio compression to G.711 to hear the audio
Why is my video blurry or lagging?
  • The default resolution, when viewing your live feed on your iPhone or Android is set to medium (VGA).For a clearer picture, you can set the display resolution to HD.
  • Your camera has a focus ring surrounding the lens as shown below. The focus ring may have moved during shipment. You can gradually move the focus ring clockwise or counter-clockwise until you get a clear video
  • Make sure your smart phone, tablet, or iPad has a good network connection or cellular reception.
  • Check to see if your Neposmart Camera has a strong WiFi signal. Your Neposmart Camera may not be able to deliver good video quality if the network connection is poor. Alternatively, you can connect your Neposmart Camera to your WiFi network using an Ethernet cable.
Why am I getting so many notifications? I only use my camera for motion detection, so I don't use a door sensor or perimeter beam.

There are a few reasons this could be happening:

  • If there is a consistent reminder, say every minute or 10 minutes, something could be blocking the perimeter, or the power could have been cut
  • If there are lots of notifications, say more than 10 false alerts a day, the settings could be used incorrectly

To fix this, check your Settings by going to Settings > Controller / Sensor Settings > Door Perimeter Detection Disabled.

When using the web browser app, I cannot access Neposmart away from home.
  • If you are using the iOS, Android Neposmart app and the NeposmartPC client app and you are connected to the internet via WiFi or cellular data, you should be able to access your Neposmart camera from anywhere without the need for port forwarding as the auto discovery is done automatically by the Neposmart app. Make sure your Neposmart camera is also connected to the internet via WiFi or wired connection.
  • For web app access, check to make sure your ports are correctly forwarded, and make sure that you entered the correct port number into your browser. If your IP address is 98.12.34.56 and your port is 6264, enter http://98.12.34.56:6264.
  • For web app access, check that you have the correct external IP address. Many Internet service providers change your external IP address from time to time. You can find your external IP address by going to web setting on Neposmart, clicking “Network Settings”–>”Remote Access” then clicking “Check.”
I forgot my Neposmart Camera password or Door/Garage Door password.

If you forget your Neposmart Camera’s password, check if you have a second device that can access your Neposmart Camera. Devices include smart phone, tablet, and iPad. If so, follow the instructions below:

From your second device:

  1. Access your Neposmart app
  2. Press “i” icon on the right
  3. Press “Device Settings”
  4. Press “User Settings”
  5. Change your “Camera Administrator” Password
  6. Change Controller Administrator password which is your Door / Garage Door password

Once both of your Neposmart Camera and Door / Garage Door passwords have been updated, login to your first device using your updated password.

If you do not have a second device with which to update your Neposmart Camera or Door / Garage Door password, you will need to factory reset your Neposmart Camera by pressing and holding the reset button on the back of your Neposmart Camera for about ten seconds. This action deletes prior settings, therefore you will need to set up for Neposmart Camera and Neposmart Door / Garage Door settings again. Every Neposmart Camera and Door / Garage Door has a default username and password.

The Neposmart Camera default username is admin and the default password is 123456.

The Neposmart Door/Garage Door default username is garage and the default password is 2015.

We do not collect, store or share your personal and private information such as your account username and passwords, therefore we cannot provide you with your account information. We respect your privacy and believe that your personal data should only be in your control, nobody else’s.

  5. Send a code to your mobile phone > Enter verification code

  7. Reconnect your apps and devices later
  8. Click “App-specific Passwords” > “Manage application-specific passwords”
  9. In the “Select App” dropdown select “Other (custom name)”
  10. Type “Neposmart” and click “Generate
  11. Use the generated app password to enter into the Email Configuration settings in the Neposmart app. (No spaces). Keep that password safe and secure.
  12. Note: You will need to re-connect by re-signing in to all your Google Apps such as Google Drive, Mail on Mac, iPad, iPhone etc. and issue passwords for all your Google Accounts

Method 2 (Simple method, less secure)

  1. Click “My Account”
  2. Under “Sign-in & security” click “Connected apps & sites”
  3. Under “Allow less secure apps: OFF” turn on
  4. This will allow app access for all non-Google apps and devices that you authorize
I have connected my Neposmart Camera to my WiFi but it’s not working.

Go into your Device Settings > WiFi Network

Check to see if your network is shown under “SSID” (for iOS) or that your network shows “Connected” (Android). If not you will have to repeat the WiFi setup either:

  1. Pushing the WPS button on your router and holding the reset button for about 5 seconds to connect OR
  2. Plugging in the ethernet cable from the Neposmart Camera to your router and add your network by entering the password.
